CANON: Magic: The Gathering
CANON POINT: During Thunder Junction.
[The canon point in paticular is when he Planeswalks to avoid being petrified.]
BACKGROUND: Here!
SUITABILITY: Oko is not a good person.
That's a bit of an understatement. Oko is a trickster, a person who only lives for himself. He's never had to live with consequences for his actions. He's left his son behind, he's left his former love, he's even left behind his home to wander freely and cause chaos. He's worked in small groups, but he only saw them as workmates. He hates authority, and is the sort of man who wants to destroy it.
Yet, I feel that's what makes him perfect. He is not the sort of man to take being limited easily, yet I feel it might help him be forced into learning friendships and kindness. As he is no longer able to flee from his responsibly, and will be forced into aiding others or starving, he may learn with time to show both empathy and care. Even if it's only for small groups of people. Him being stuck in a less powerful state, as well, will almost help humble him like a parable. And as a fae being, stories shape who he is, in a way. Oko doesn't like playing any part other then trickster, but he will need to learn to do so, or he will be alone and dead. He will, of course, play ball at first with the guilds. My hoped end-goal for him is to find a small group or reason to use his abilities and knowledge to aid other Pokemon.
As I'm also implying in how I am writing this, I am also okay with the alternate - him not adapting, and ending up in near-death experiences or dying. (He is not a popularly-played character, so I don't feel that applying for a character with this known maybe end-goal is a bad thing.)
While this does not come up in the questionnaire, it is also important to note that technically, Oko has two different minds. In his home plane/world, Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, everybody is born with two sides to them. Oko was born to the Shadowmoor side, before being forced into his Lorwyn mindset before fleeing the world. He suffers from a dysmorphia of sorts already, feeling something wrong about him without quite remembering why. His Shadowmoor self is less of an ass, but still an ass. (He actually feels remorse for some of his deeds, for example.) I would love for some event in the future to allow him to tap into his other self again. (Unlike most people from Loywyn-Shadowmoor, it is also stated he can remember both halves of himself.) Perhaps, if he was able to awaken this part of himself, he'd feel even more remorse and end up being just a bit kinder.
...Also, to me, it's amusing to play a character from a canon I know TPCi hates. (Because of the history of the trading card game.)
QUESTIONNAIRE:
First of all, if he's alone, he will likely either revel in the other Pokemons' misery, mocking them for it - or, if he recognizes the Pokemon from town, he will aid them expecting a favour later, if it won't put him at risk. He'd use whatever abilities he kept, and go it alone.
But if he's with allies, he will first feel the vibe. If they seem to want to help this creature, he'll see if they have it handled. If they do, he'll likely move on ahead, claiming he believed in them. Of course, it'll likely be visible to those around him that he was bullshitting them, because he just left them there to get hurt by this lashing out creature. (Like how he left his son behind when reinforcements were coming to capture them.)
Lying. Now, what would he be lying about? Why, when he came from! He's never met you before! He's picked up that people can come from different time periods, so why not pretend he doesn't know his worst enemies? Gaslighting for fun and profit. And what, exactly, is the profit?
Why, betraying them during the mission, reporting their worst enemy as having messed it up, even if they didn't. Hey, they came to him, and they likely knew his reputation, if they declared them his worst enemy. Really, it's all their fault. Of course, Oko knows this trick can only work once, if they figure out he remembers them - so it'd need to be the best way to break their hypocrisy - trusting him when they know he is a trickster.
The second is that they think he wants to go home. The thing is... Oko doesn't see himself as having a home. He left Lorwyn-Shadowmoor for a reason, and while he's heard of the events happening there, that the evil queen has died, he hasn't wanted to go back there. He's also sort of in hiding from other Planeswalkers, since he is certain any who'd want to find him would want to strike him down. Garruk, Jace... it's sort of safe here. Sure, he's desparked, but he assumes this is temporary. But if the guild leaders don't know he thinks like this, if he pretends well enough that he's seeking a way home...? And they're offering him supplies and aid? Well, there's no reason to refuse.
Oh? Do they truly think he's going to do the favour in exchange? They must be fools. And yet... Oko likely would do the favour in exchange, especially if it'll harm the other guilds. Because it sounds amusing, you see.things nothing. (Don't worry about it!) He could have done such, to get more leverage over these people. Yet, they trust him to make the choice? He would likely make himself scarce, not wanting to be blamed for doing this. He ran away from the chance to rule for a reason, after all, and this isn't his duty. He doesn't like being tied down - by family, by responsibility, by anything. Anything is just another chain, like those he first ran from. Yet, if a group is sent out to scout, and seek food, he would follow in disguise to make sure they didn't die. Not for their sake, though, but because he doesn't wish to starve either.
Thus, he has inaction as his choice. Even if he's run out of town for it - he'd likely try and return in disguise, to continue messing with people.
POKEMON: Shiny Zorua.
As a master shapeshifter, Oko suits the little fox the best - and the blues of the shiny suit his blue markings. His front blue 'socks' are a little higher up, and his tail is more downwards angled - a bit like an elk. It is also a bit ironic, a fairy becoming a dark-type. Zorua, as well, is able to be startled out of shapeshifting, as is Oko. They're both tricksters! And, like Zorua, Oko has a lot of maturing to do - just mental instead of physical.
Oko will likely take another form, however, using his illusions - and yet, he'll find it baffling he can't seem to become himself or one of his favoured forms like an elk or bird. Using this FAQ answer, I am more then fine for his future guild leader to see though this bit. (Especially when he uses his abilities to put up quests in illusion, making a fake identity for what seem like frivolous quests.) One plan of mine is for him to keep putting up the same quest, month after month, until he finds his name has been put to it instead of his fake identity.
GUILD OPT-OUT: Lum! This isn't just because of Perrin, but it's because Oko could never settle down with the ideals or guild in general. He would find it restrictive. While he does see himself as the best of the best, he wouldn't want to be close to somebody who also thinks the same way. It would cause conflict, and not the sort I wish to play with long-term.
With Cheri, I feel that Oko would clash with Ribombees desire to follow/trust leadership without question. But he does agree that there is a need to provide for the many, not just a few - what sort of freedom is there when freedom is just for a few? Oko is also a man who enjoys the freedom of helping nature, and knows it better then people. So while he'd clash with the people, he'd live for the ideals of Cheri in his own way.
If I had a preference, it would be for Oko to be in the Oran Guild. I feel that Mightyenas' mindset and acceptance would baffle him at first, and he would push against the feeling of being cared for and cherished for what he is, the flaws and all. While he's an asshole, and is the sort of man who fucks with others, acceptance would probably make him pause and consider quicker then in other guilds. He's never been... trusted. And thus, he doesn't trust, and would be waiting for the other boot to drop.

QUESTIONNAIRE:
⟡ Your character is on an exploration quest when they find an injured Pokemon in need of help. This Pokemon appears to be in distress and is quite dangerous, posing a risk to your character even if they mean well, and putting your quest mission at risk. What do they do? What are some possibilities of how they work with teammates to address this, or do they go at it alone? Here's the thing. In this situation, Oko would likely have caused it somehow, or want to use it to mess with those he's travelling with. He lacks a sense of empathy for people in a way, finding even suffering and sorrow as a wonderful trick. But now he's stuck, he would need to live with his actions. However, for a long while, this will take time for him to actually begin acting like he will.
First of all, if he's alone, he will likely either revel in the other Pokemons' misery, mocking them for it - or, if he recognizes the Pokemon from town, he will aid them expecting a favour later, if it won't put him at risk. He'd use whatever abilities he kept, and go it alone.

(Like how he left his son behind when reinforcements were coming to capture them.)
⟡ Your character's worst enemy has recently appeared in game, and has joined the guild your character is part of. They both want to tackle the same quest, and your character's enemy suggests that they work together as a team to accomplish this goal. How does your character respond to this?At his current canon point, there are a few people Oko does not want to see. But as a Planeswalker, even if this plane seems disconnected from the Omenpaths, he has had to brace himself for them. Oko is a man who is used to being able to planeshift to just escape consequences from his pranks (which are more like messing with and hurting people for his own amusement) - but without that ability, he will likely shift to another way to handle this.
Lying. Now, what would he be lying about? Why, when he came from! He's never met you before! He's picked up that people can come from different time periods, so why not pretend he doesn't know his worst enemies? Gaslighting for fun and profit. And what, exactly, is the profit?

Of course, Oko knows this trick can only work once, if they figure out he remembers them - so it'd need to be the best way to break their hypocrisy - trusting him when they know he is a trickster.
⟡ The leader of your character's guild has just approached your character with an offer: they will provide your character with extra supplies, reputation points, and help them with any of their current struggles. In exchange, they ask for your character to do a favor for them that may harm the other guilds, and will not specify what the favor is in advance. It sounds shady, but it's the deal of a lifetime in your character's path to get back home, and refusing it may cause strife for your character within their current guild. What do they think of this offer? What do they ultimately decide to do?It isn't the shadiness that makes Oko pause, when offered this. No, it's the fact that his guild leader seems to think two things. The first is that they trust him enough not to mess with them - because he clearly dislikes this whole system. He's a man who's not used to being a lower rung in a system, and also forced to play along. In fact, he quite dislikes it, but has been using their generosity to survive for now.
The second is that they think he wants to go home. The thing is... Oko doesn't see himself as having a home. He left Lorwyn-Shadowmoor for a reason, and while he's heard of the events happening there, that the evil queen has died, he hasn't wanted to go back there. Oh? Do they truly think he's going to do the favour in exchange? They must be fools. And yet... Oko likely would do the favour in exchange, especially if it'll harm the other guilds. Because it sounds amusing, you see.
⟡ Due to shortages on supplies, the city is facing issues deciding where to cut corners during this rough time. Somehow, the responsibility has fallen on your character's shoulders, and they have to make a decision. If they send out an extra team of Pokemon, they will be able to gather more food, and through that, save the lives of dozens of starving Pokemon that were in dire need of nutrition. However, the only Pokemon available to scout for food are those working at the pokeclinic, and sending them out would mean certain death for at least two ill patients. What does your character decide to do? How do they feel about this choice, and how would they deal with the pushback that comes from either side? This is one of those times, Oko ponders, it is a pity he is disconnected from his ability to make food out of
